Three decades of becoming a leader. Interview with Dariusz Jasak, CEO of SEEN Technologie
In more than three decades of operation, SEEN Technologie has established itself as one of the key players in the environmental engineering sector, implementing complex projects both in Poland and abroad. The company consistently combines a wealth of experience with a modern approach to process digitization and sustainability, co-creating a new innovation-driven industry model. We talk about the company’s vision, milestones and directions for further development with Dariusz Jasak, CEO of SEEN Technologie.
Today SEEN Technologie is a brand unequivocally associated with modern environmental engineering. What was the path that led the company to a leadership position?
SEEN Technologie represents more than three decades of experience, development and consistent building of engineering competence. The company was founded in 1990 in Warsaw – at a time of dynamic economic changes that opened up completely new opportunities for Polish business. From the very beginning, our goal was to implement innovative solutions in the field of environmental technology – an activity that was ahead of its time at that point.
Initially, we focused on the distribution of water disinfection, industrial chemistry and process fittings equipment and technology, in parallel developing our electronics business. However, after just two years, we realized that the real value we could bring to the market was not the product itself, but technological expertise, engineering experience and the ability to integrate processes comprehensively. That’s when the breakthrough came – the transformation from a distributor to an engineering and strategic technology partner for our customers.
In the early 1990s, the first SEEN Technologie design office was established in Gliwice – then still called the Design and Consulting Office – which became the foundation of our current design capabilities. Since then, our organization has begun to evolve into a full-service solution provider – from concept, through design, to commissioning and service.
The year 2007 was a milestone for SEEN Technologie. The incorporation of the company into the SEEN Holding Group allowed us to significantly accelerate our development. We gained a stable capital base, synergy with other holding companies and access to new markets and technologies. From that moment on, we began to fully function as an engineering and technology company with an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) profile, implementing complex investments in the municipal and industrial sectors.
In the following years, we consistently strengthened our market position. The modernization of the Central and Northern Water Plant in Warsaw and the construction of the Water Treatment Station for the Opole Power Plant were projects that not only confirmed our competence, but also established SEEN Technologie’s position as a national leader in water and wastewater treatment. It was these experiences that shaped our current model of operation – based on engineering expertise, quality workmanship and long-term responsibility for the solutions we provide.
Today SEEN Technologie is a team of more than 160 specialists – engineers, designers, automation specialists and technologists – who implement projects both in Poland and abroad. Looking back, I can say that our path to leadership has been a natural process of growing into an organization that has been able to combine technological vision, consistency in action and the trust of business partners.
SEEN Technologie has experienced impressive growth in recent years – both financially and organizationally. What factors have determined such dynamic development of the company?
Indeed, the last five years have been a period of exceptionally buoyant growth for SEEN Technologie – both in terms of scale of operations and level of organizational maturity. However, this was not an effect of chance, but the result of a consistently implemented management strategy based on three pillars: trust, innovation and business responsibility.
First, strategic stability. In times of high economic volatility, we relied on long-term planning and predictability. We built our growth based on our own engineering expertise, customer relationships and brand trust. As a result, we quadrupled revenues and profits in just a few years, while maintaining full liquidity and a high level of investment in growth.
Second, diversification of operations. Keeping a close eye on the changing needs of the market and the growing demands of industrial customers, we decided to set up a branch
in Cracow, which has become a center of competence in modern industrial wastewater treatment technologies. This team focuses on solutions dedicated to industries such as dairy, processing and paper, where energy efficiency and process stability are key. It is in the Cracow branch that we implement the most advanced technologies – anaerobic processes, optimization systems and real-time digital process monitoring. In parallel, we are also developing our offer in the field of solutions optimizing thermal energy consumption, implemented with the participation of experts from the Warsaw headquarters and Gliwice branch. An example of such a direction is the construction of a condensation heat recovery plant at the Eco-Incineration Plant in Cracow. Such diversification has strengthened our competence and allowed us to respond even better to the challenges of decarbonization, energy efficiency and the closed-loop economy.
And third, courage in implementing large investments. A symbol of a new stage in the development of SEEN Technologie is the contract with ORLEN S.A., involving the design and construction of the Vistula water treatment and demineralization station in Płock. This is the largest project in the history of the Polish water and wastewater industry – with a net value of nearly PLN 1.27 billion – implemented under the “design and build” formula. This investment confirms that SEEN Technologie can effectively compete with global players and implement projects of strategic importance to the country’s industrial security.
The development of SEEN Technologie is also the result of the professionalization of management. We have cleaned up internal processes, strengthened the structure and are developing an organizational culture. We are a company that not only reacts to market changes, but also actively creates them – through innovation, partnership approach to customers and sustainable development.
To sum up – our success is the resultant of long-term thinking, decision-making courage and the trust we build among partners, investors and employees. I believe that it is this consistency of values and actions that constitutes the strength of SEEN Technologie and is the best guarantor of further growth.
There has been a lot of buzz recently about your proprietary ASOS™ system, a solution that won the title of Innovation of the Year 2025 in the Energy and Technologies category. What exactly is ASOS™ and what significance does it have for the development of SEEN Technologie?
ASOS™ is a project that as an organization we are particularly proud of. It is a system, as well as a comprehensive concept for managing wastewater treatment plants in the spirit of Industry 4.0. In the shortest terms, we can say that ASOS™ – Automatic Supervision & Optimization Service – Is a digital twin of the actual plant, which not only monitors processes, but also learns their behavior, predicts possible deviations and optimizes operating parameters on its own.
In practice, this means that the wastewater treatment plant gains its own “virtual expert” – a system that operates 24 hours a day, analyzes data, forecasts risks and automatically adjusts plant operations to ensure the highest efficiency. ASOS™ reacts faster than a human, because every decision is based on data from thousands of measurement points and mathematical simulations, covering all processes – mechanical, biological and chemical.
We developed this system in response to the real challenges faced by industrial plants, i.e. rising energy costs, emission reductions, the need to reduce carbon and water footprints, while maintaining full compliance with increasingly stringent environmental standards. With ASOS™, our customers can reduce energy consumption by up to 30%, reduce chemical consumption by several dozen percent, and at the same time increase the reliability and stability of their plants’ operation.
The system allows not only to improve the technological process, but also to optimize the total cost of operation of the treatment plant. This is a real business value for customers – energy savings, reduction of reagent consumption, and, as a result, measurable financial and environmental benefits.
From SEEN Technologie’s point of view, ASOS™ represents a strategic direction for the company. It embodies the philosophy we adopted several years ago – combining classical engineering with digital technologies, process modeling and automation. It is through such solutions that we want to build our competitive advantage not only in the Polish, but also in the European market.
The title of Innovation of the Year 2025 in the Energy and Technologies category awarded at the Executive Innovation Forum is a great honor for the entire SEEN Technologie team. It confirms that our approach to the digitization of processes and the use of data in the management of industrial installations has been recognized and appreciated by experts. Importantly, ASOS™ was developed in Poland, by our internal team at the company’s Cracow branch, led by Boguslaw Buczak, DEng, Director of the Process Engineering Department. This proves that Polish engineering has great innovative potential and is capable of setting global standards.
For me personally, ASOS™ symbolizes a new stage in the history of SEEN Technologie – a stage, in which technology, data and engineering expertise form a cohesive ecosystem to support the industry’s transformation towards efficiency, automation and sustainability.
What future do you see for SEEN Technologie and the environmental engineering industry as a whole? What will prove to be, in your opinion, the key to success in the years to come?
Looking back over the past few years, I can say with confidence that our industry is entering a completely new phase of development. Environmental engineering is becoming one of the key pillars of industrial, energy and climate transformation. It is no longer a supporting activity – it is a strategic sector, without which no sustainable development process will be possible.
We are facing a time of dynamic technological transformation, the pace of which will be driven by three main factors: limited water availability, rising energy costs and the need to reduce CO₂ emissions. In this context, the role of companies like SEEN Technologie is special – we combine engineering expertise with process innovation and digitization to create solutions that allow industry to operate more efficiently and responsibly.
For us, the future means further strengthening our position as a strategic partner for industry and energy sector. We want to develop consistently in the direction of integrating technology with digitization, so that each installation can function as an intelligent, self-improving system, using the potential of data and process automation. At the same time, we are focusing on increasing energy efficiency and resource recovery, which will determine the competitiveness of companies globally in the coming years. Sustainability and ESG reporting, now a real dimension of responsible business and a key component of its long-term value, also remain integral to this strategy.
At the same time, we realize that the foundation of any transformation is people – their knowledge and passion. It is not technologies that build the future, but people who can use them properly. That’s why at SEEN Technologie we place great emphasis on competence development, cooperation and an organizational culture based on responsibility and trust.
From a leadership perspective, I believe that our role is not only to provide technological solutions, but also to create awareness – to educate, inspire and set the direction for change. Today, environmental engineering is not only about precise calculations and processes, but also a responsibility to future generations. Every decision we make has an impact – on people, the economy and the planet.
If we keep this in mind in our daily work, we will not only maintain our leadership position, but, more importantly, we will be a real contributor to creating a new, responsible economy of the future.
