Generation Park Y – the greenest skyscraper in the Capital City of Warsaw

Generation Park Y is Skanska’s tallest office building in this part of Europe, crowning the office complex located at Daszyński Roundabout in Warsaw. This 140-meter-high building is the greenest skyscraper in Warsaw, offering timeless, sustainable office space, innovative solutions and impressive view over the city. On the occasion of International Skyscrapers Day, we take a look at the capital’s investment by the Swedish developer.

The main assumption of the Generation Park project was to create such a place of work that would respond to the needs of employees of all generations – hence its name. The realization of the complex started in December 2015. Three years later began the building of a 140-meter tower marked with the letter Y. After more than 5 years from the start of the investment, the occupancy permit was granted to its last part, which is also Skanska’s first skyscraper in Poland and the developer’s tallest office building in this part of Europe.

– Generation Park Y is the culmination of Skanska’s largest project in Warsaw. The entire Generation Park complex and its commercial success to date are a confirmation that our strategy of creating timeless, healthy and safe office spaces, while keeping in mind both people’s and the environment’s needs, is bearing fruit. In times of great uncertainty, we have managed to set a firm and stable path. It’s extremely important from the point of view of tenants and investors – says Arkadiusz Rudzki, Vice President of Leasing and Sales in Skanska’s office company in CEE.

Innovative and sustainable solutions on the highest level

Generation Park Y is one of the best examples of Skanska’s approach to creating innovative, sustainable and safe work spaces. Employees will be able to enjoy six double-height sky-office spaces here. Apart from the distinctive space, they will create another place – besides the terrace – with an exceptional view on Warsaw. The office building uses double deck elevators, allowing for placing two lift cabins in one shaft, which improves vertical communication in high buildings. Users of the tower will also be able to use Connected by Skanska. This is an integrated platform that not only binds smart technologies together, but also connects people to the workplace. It facilitates the management of building functions such as parking, access control and virtual reception.

Generation Park Y has earned the title of the most sustainable in Warsaw not without reason. The skyscraper has applied for the demanding WELL Core&Shell certificate, verifying the building’s impact on the health and well-being of its employees, as well as LEED Platinum and Barrier-free Facility certificates. The latter means that people with different needs (such as parents with small children or people with disabilities) can move around the building and use it without any restrictions.

Within the complex, a sidewalk made of so-called green concrete was laid, which thanks to its catalytic properties reduces the level of smog. It also has self-cleaning properties – this effect occurs during rainfall. The technology will also be used in the public plaza between buildings X, Y and Z. This carefully landscaped space will be a new meeting place and will emphasize the metropolitan character of Rondo Daszyńskiego – an area changing at a tremendous pace, consistently building its position as the business center of Warsaw.

Greenery and excellent location

In the lobby of the building, a 330-square-meter wall was created, consisting of more than 6 thousand plants. It produces oxygen, which within 24 hours would be enough for 150 people. Almost at the very top of the building, on the 35th floor, a terrace filled with plants will be made available to the employees, from which they will be able to admire the panorama of the capital. Beehives will be placed on the roof of the office building. Between the buildings of the complex, planted pergolas were created, whose roofs are also planted with greenery. It is an additional place, which will allow you to work outdoors, but also to relax, creating a friendly atmosphere in the area.

At Daszyński Roundabout there is a subway station and tram stations and bus stops. There is also a station of the Warsaw Fast Urban Rail nearby. Good access to other parts of the city makes it easy to get to work by bike – there are 187 bicycle parking spaces at Generation Park. However, if the employees decide to get to work by car, there are over 300 parking spaces waiting for them, located on four underground floors of the building. All of them are equipped with sockets for charging electric vehicles.
