Allegro has been supporting Poles, Polish businesses and non-governmental organizations for years. Today, the e-commerce company has joined the initiative created around the highest international standards of corporate social responsibility.
“Allegro has been shaping its sustainable development history for over 20 years. From the very beginning, we have been supporting customers and businesses operating on the platform, and we have been engaging in social and charity projects. Corporate social responsibility has been very important to us, and over the years we have developed best-in-class practices that we continue following. We have already created our second CSR strategy, which is full of clearly-defined goals and actions. We want to be a platform supporting customers in responsible shopping and merchants in developing their businesses. We also want to have a positive impact on society and the economy, and be a great employer. Joining the Global Compact is another step on the way to implementing our 2020–2023 sustainable development strategy. We are aware of the scale of our
impact on society and the economy, which is why we want to have a measurable impact on the environment and make every aspect of our business support Allegro’s sustainable development strategy. That is why we implement such initiatives as sustainable packaging.” says Marta Mikliszańska, Head of Public Affairs and Sustainability at Allegro.
The Allegro platform is home to over 128,000 merchants and is thepreferred shoppingdestination for 13 million Poles. The company not only offers access to the broadest selection of products at the best prices to customers, but is also a platform where merchants can grow their businesses. Allegro also contributes significantly to the Polish budget, as it pays taxes and employs employees in Poland. Currently, over 3,150 people work in the Allegro group, and this year alone, we plan to hire another 1,500 people. Joining the UN Global Compact proves that Allegro takes its CSR strategy and pro-environmental commitments seriously. Allegro educates merchants on sustainable development and implements the climate agenda in our supply chain and deliveries. By joining forces with other representatives of the business world who are committed to achieving Sustainable Development Goals, we will be in an even better position to face global climate, economic and social challenges.
“Joining the UN Global Compact is not only an obligation to respect the Ten Principles, but also to set ambitious goals and report the effects of activities in the field of sustainable development. UN Global Compact is a leading platform for the development, implementation and dissemination of a
