Carrefour to stay in Morski Park Handlowy
The seaside climate serves well one of the largest retail chains operating in Poland, which has extended the lease agreement with Morski Park Handlowy for another 5 years. Following a recent expansion and new tenant mix, the centre is now among the most popular retail destinations in Tri-City. Morski Park Handlowy is owned by GRP.
According to the new agreement, Carrefour in Morski Park Handlowy will continue to operate in the hypermarket format with a total GLA of over 8,300 sqm. Today, the centre is perceived by residents of the Tri-City as a place with very good access, convenient parking and, above all, a wide range of brands offering interior furnishing and decoration, electronics, as well as DIY offer.
Our shop in Morski Park Handlowy is a very important point on the retail map of Gdańsk’s Szadółki district. After more than a decade since its opening, as one of the centre’s first tenants, we can proudly say that we have been growing up with this destination. We have seen how it changed, how the visitors of the centre changed. This is why we know our customers’ preferences and needs so well. We know what is important to them and what kind of shopping they are interested in. This allows us to successfully pursue an ambitious growth strategy, adapting to the new reality of not only modern, omnichannel retail, but also of the postcovid era – Agata Kopytyńska, Director of Real Estate and Expansion Department at Carrefour Polska
Tri-City is one of the most developed and mature retail markets in the country. Its advantages include the growing purchasing power of its citizens as well as the positive migration balance observed for several years. This allowed and still allows Morski Park Handlowy, with Carrefour on board, to strengthen its position. The tenant’s new 5-year agreement is a clear sign that the centre, which was extended a few years ago, is well managed and has a well-thought-out tenant-mix, and is an important part of the retail landscape of Gdańsk and Tri-City – Jorg ten Have of RPG Asset Management
Bernd van Kooten of RPG thanks all involved parties including Carrefour, Savills and BNP Paribas Real Estate Poland. BNP Paribas Real Estate Poland is responsible for the asset management as well as Landlord representation at Morski Park Handlowy. Savills is the property manager of Morski Park Handlowy.
After the extension, Morski Park Handlowy’s floorspace has increased to 41,000 sqm. In the past 18 months alone, the following brands expanded their shops in the complex on Przywidzka street: JYSK, Meble VOX, Arte, Pan Materac and RTV Euro AGD. Apart from the latter, the tenant-mix includes: OBI DIY market, Jula, MediaExpert, and four brands belonging to Komfort (Komfort Łazienki, Komfort Podłogi, Komfort Kuchnie and Nexterio). There is a McDonald’s restaurant in the centre, which is neighboured by the Designer Outlet Gdańsk outlet centre and the Agata furniture store.
