Fundacja Dziecięca Fantazja’s mandate is to bring joy to children living with terminal illnesses or life-limiting conditions by making their dreams and wishes come true. Since 2003, with help from individual and corporate supporters, Fantazja has granted over 8000 wishes for children aged 3-18 from all over Poland.
Hospitals, isolation from family and friends, painful treatments, and exhausting rehabilitation – this is the everyday life of a sick child. The power of granting a wish brings much-needed joy to the child and their family; it gives them hope and the strength to keep fighting.
All dreams, big or small, are equally important. Children dream of toys, building blocks, bicycles, musical equipment, laptops, smartphones, and gaming consoles. Some children dream of new comfortable beds and furniture. Others would like to go to the seaside or the mountains, or travel to watch their favourite sports team and perhaps meet their idol. And these are just a few examples because children’s dreams are limitless.
The pandemic has been difficult for our wish-children as many have compromised immune systems, making them more vulnerable to infection. The isolation and lack of interaction with others, combined with the difficulty in getting treatment and rehabilitation, has negatively impacted the children’s mental and physical well-being. The current political situation has led Fantazja to embrace Ukrainian children fleeing from war, children who lost everything. Amongst them are many children suffering from various illnesses.
In 2020, Fantazja launched its charity platform www.wishsurfing.plwhere children’s wishes can be browsed and then fulfilled. Donations are tax-deductible. By the end of 2021, the Wishsurfing platform had fulfilled the wishes of 330 children, and the site had over 600 000 page views.
Companies also have the unique opportunity to “Adopt a Wish” via the Wishsurfing platform – which allows companies and their employees to make a positive impact in the life of a sick and vulnerable child living in every region or in Poland. The “Adopt a Wish” program is an ideal CSR strategy for companies, and it’s exclusive – limited to only 200 members.
In addition to fulfilling children’s dreams, Fantazja runs many other meaningful programs for hundreds of less-fortunate children: Live with Dignity; Skating for Young Heroes; Journeys for a Lifetime; Dream Night at the ZOO; Christmas Gala Party; and many more.
