In June, Poland will host a gigantic city development event.

On October 29-November 2, Deputy Minister Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak will visit EXPO2020 in Dubai. The purpose of the visit is to promote the 11th session of the World City Forum (WUF11), which will come to Katowice in June next year. Urban & Rural Development Week and the World Cities Day preceding it, taking place at EXPO2020 at that time, is a great opportunity to invite guests from all over the world to Poland.
– The possibility of promoting WUF11 at EXPO2020 in Dubai is a great opportunity for us. We want the whole world to know what a unique place the 11th session of the event will take place. As hosts of the World City Forum, we want to reach the largest possible audience with information and invite them to come to Poland in June 2022 – said Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedyn
The next year is a time of intensive preparations for the World City Forum, also in the area of promoting the event. During EXPO2020 in Dubai, the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy will organize a panel entitled Green cities, green people. The participants of the meeting will debate on the relationship between infrastructure and “soft” activities that affect our cities. The key issue will be to show how the daily decisions of residents affect the ecology and make cities greener.
The panel will be followed by a concert by Bartłomiej Szopiński – blues pianist. Its organizer is the city of Katowice. Deputy Minister Małgorzata Jarosińska-Jedynak will also take part in the panel prepared on the occasion of the World Cities Day by the EXPO organizers under the name “Urban Climate Action”.
World Urban Forum – be with us in Katowice
WUF11 will be held on June 26-30, 2022 in Katowice under the slogan “We are changing our cities for a better future”. During the event, we will talk about sustainable urban development. WUF11 will also allow you to listen to the most important voice in the debate – the voice of city dwellers. An important element of the program heritage of the 11th session of the World City Forum will be the Action Plan for Cities. It is an incentive for cities to undertake transformation efforts and contribute to the implementation of the sustainable development goals, especially in urbanized areas.
EXPO: the world in one place
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, EXPO2020 in Dubai has been postponed by one year and takes place between October 1, 2021 and March 31, 2022. For the first time, the World Exhibition is organized in an Arab country.
The subject of EXPO2020 focuses on the challenges of today’s world, their complexity and complexity. The main theme is expanded by three sub-themes: opportunities, mobility and sustainable development. The event is a platform for dialogue to encourage a collaborative future.
The World Expo is the largest event of this type in the world. They connect economic, promotional, cultural and tourist threads. They are held every 5 years. The history of World Exhibitions dates back to 1851. Initially, they were used to present scientific achievements and present inventions. Currently, the Expo is a platform for international dialogue for progress and cooperation. The International Exhibition Office in Paris is responsible for the organization of the World Exhibitions.
